Social Media’s Impact

In today’s society, technology is a very important part of our daily lives. Looking back on most of my daily routines, I have found that there is not one thing about my day that doesn’t include technology in some way. I believe that using social media has helped me in keeping this blog going in numerous different ways. I was always able to turn to Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, or Youtube to find helpful GIFs or videos to make my blog posts more interesting. For example, using Facebook for my Disney blog was useful because I am part of this “Disneyland Annual Passports” group on Facebook where I can tell my friends when I will be going and can ask for help taking pictures or recording rides for my blog. Also using Instagram, I am able to look under different hashtags and explore “Disney” related tags to find cool and innovative ways to take pictures of the park. Using Tumblr was a main part of the reason why I even chose my blog to be about Disneyland because I follow so many Disney tumblrs, it was so easy for me apply my new knowledge about the park. Lastly Youtube had a big influence on my blog because I feel that through others’ videos on Youtube, people are able to experience the park or rides through the videos I find on Youtube. Social media helped me to learn more about Disneyland while helping me teach about Disneyland too.

Before and After

Although many students who visit Disneyland today could never imagine the rides that were there when our parents were that young, many think that the rides that are there today, have existed ever since opening day. I know that I will be able to tell my children that I remember when they started to build Car’s land and Ariel’s Grotto but my parents tell me what they remember watching as well.

1.  America Sings is now Innoventions in Tommorrowland.

2. Submarine Voyage is now called Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage.

3. Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse has now been transformed into Tarzan’s Treehouse.

4. Davy Crockett’s Island which is now called the Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island.

I think for some, the before attractions were a lot better than compared to what they are today. For example I do remember being in awe with the details on the previous Submarine Voyage which makes me slowly start to hate Finding Nemo’s Submarine Voyage. I also would have loved to see America Sings because I love Splash Mountain which some of the robotic singing animals were placed within the mountain after America Sings closed down.

My Most Memorable Day at Disneyland

It all started when my niece and nephew got their own Disney passes for their Christmas presents.

Once we heard that we were going to Disneyland, it only took us 20 minutes to get ready and buckled up in the car.

Of course we had to stop first and listen to the music of Disneyland’s own Dapper Dans.

After riding a fair amount of rides, we decided that it was time for lunch and headed directly to the turkey leg stand. For only $9, we were able to feed all four of us.

Erika and I were able to meet one of the cast members on the tv hit show, Pretty Little Liars. We were star struck and couldn’t believe that we actually saw an upcoming celebrity.

My niece, Adalyn, wanted to ride The Tower of Terror where we were told that she wasn’t tall enough so we took her to see pictures of people on the ride and came across these inventive guests.

Due to the popularity of Disney’s water show, World of Color, we stood in line for over an hour and a half, hoping to get good seats for the kids.

Although I have been to Disneyland over 50 times, this trip with my niece and nephew would definitely be the best. This picture made me know that this trip was the best I ever had.
